Help! Wanted: Tales of On-the-Job Terror

I’ve just signed off on the final galley copy of my story, “The Little Church of Safe Crossing,” which will be appearing this October in Help! Wanted: Tales of On-the-Job Terror, edited by Peter Giglio and published by Evil Jester Press. I was invited to participate in this anthology at the afterparty for the 2010 Bram Stoker Awards, and I was so taken with the idea of horror stories set in the workplace that I couldn’t help but say yes. Only later, when I found out who else was going to be in the book with me, did I realize how incredibly lucky I was to get an invitation. Take a look at the table of contents:

Stephen Volk, “The Chapel of Unrest”
David Dunwoody, “Another Shift Change”
Lisa Morton, “Face Out”
Gregory L. Norris, “Carpool”
Zak Jarvis, “Grist”
Adrian Chamberlin, “The Interview”
Ellen Herbert, “The Tenure Track Lottery”
Gary Brandner, “Words, Words, Words!”
Patrick Flanagan, “Team Player”
David C. Hayes, “Agnes: A Love Story”
Jeff Strand, “Work / Life Balance”
Vince A. Liaguno, “Monday Shutdown”
David Greske, “Accountable”
Amy Wallace, “The Gardeners”
Vic Kerry, “New Orleans’ Best Beignets”
Henry Snider, “The Vessel”
Craig Saunders, “Playing Blackjack with Mr. Paws”
Mark Allan Gunnells, “Must Be Something in the Water”
Marianne Halbert, “Like Riding a Bicycle”
Will Huston, “A Hundred Bucks is a Hundred Bucks”
Trevor Denyer, “The Pipes”
Matt Kurtz, “Deadline”
Joe McKinney, “The Little Church of Safe Crossing”
Eric Shapiro, “Expulsion”
Scott Bradley, “Career Day”

As part of the press kit for the book, the folks at Evil Jester also did a first rate book trailer:

As it turns out a number of the authors are from the L.A. area.  Look for them to do a mass book signing at Dark Delicacies sometime in October or November.  And as I’ll be in L.A. in late October for the Aliens to Zombies convention, who knows, I just might join them.

Important Update:  The Audiobook is in the Works!

I just found out that Melanie Skipp has signed on to do the audiobook performance of HELP! WANTED: Tales of On the Job Terror.  Editor Peter Giglio says: “Melanie Skipp is a terrific talent and will do a tremendous job.  We’re shooting for a January release for the audio version.  The program will be available as an MP3 CD and in digital download format from and, we hope, will help bring more attention to EJP and the respective work of the contributing authors.”  As a huge audiobook fan, I can’t wait for this!

Important Update: The eBook Version is Here!

Those of you with ebook readers will be pleased to know the ebook version has just landed over at Amazon.  You can check it out here!
